Definitely get a GoPro and the accessories, it can be attached to a helmet or the bike, records awesome video. Make sure your computer is powerful enough to Play and process video, if not sure don’t record at 4K but a lower res.
Loads of old second hand ones on eBay, if you get an older one get a HERO4 Black.
Hope that helps

IMHO Go Pro is large and bulky for helmet mounting, although the image quality is good

If you have decided on fitting a camera to your helmet then something slimmer will look better and not make you look like one of the Teletubbies

Maybe a Drift Ghost would be better and cheaper, image quality is also good

A Sena Pro 10C is also good but more costly

Check the links below

Alternatively buy a chest harness for a Go Pro or mount it to your bike, remotes are available to enable switching on/off and between modes Thumbs Up

I have GoPro 4, helmet mounted, with a small remote on the left hand mirror stem. As stated, the quality is superb. Have also mounted the camera on the bike, but prefer helmet. (With a few spare mounting lugs you can swap about on the day.)

For typical quality, see the link below, not triples I'm afraid. Watch on the biggest screen and best resolution you can.

I bought a s/h Hero4 on Friday, not arrived yet.
I don’t really want to use it on my helmet. What is the best type of mount to use on the bike?

Chest mounting or maybe even on an upper arm should give good results, away from Bike Vibration which can give some weird rippling effects and also away from the helmet where the image swings violently from side to side when you come to a junction and look both ways for traffic.

I too want a camera that will switch twixt bike , car motorhome etc by having separate mounts already attached to said vehicles. But, the Hero 4 black only has an hour of video ! according to a youtube video review. I'm guessing every mounting will have to be powered ?

Is that what everyone does? Ride / drive for an hour or so then stop and change the battery!

Nope, they turn it on and off at various times.. an hour of video would be very tedious, and would take several hours (or even days) to copy or edit. Smaller files can be worked upon far easier.

Ah, I was thinking of using it as a dashcam, ( on loop recording. That way I could use it on different vehicles, I'll have to do some more internetting!

Ah OK, yep I used my little 'un for just that in the car and set it to three minute chunks of video, then erased it every time there was no event at the end of the journey.

But better still in the car was my phone simply sat on its side with the aid of a small folded piece of plastic to keep it upright.

Never thought of the phone, that'll suffice for the van and car, but I'd still like one that will switch between bikes without having each one wired to power the unit. I'll do some searching and treat myself for my birthday.

You can get Chinese Go-pro copies on eBay for about £25. I use one as a dash cam, it is full HD, starts/stops with the ignition and loops, so when the SD card is full it starts overwriting the earlier recordings. You press a button if you want to lock a recording to prevent it being overwritten.
